For as long as I can remember I have been on the search for the world’s best bbq sauce. It started out at my local grocery store, carefully choosing each week a different sauce, taking it home and testing it throughout the week with various meats. Then it became a small obsession when I began perusing the lesser known, local establishments in my area. Once I started it, I could not stop my quest for the perfect sauce. After I’d used up my local resources, the internet was the only logical choice. Using the information that I’d obtained (oh yes, I keep a BBQ Sauce journal) my first Google search was entirely focused on the longhorn state of Texas. I ordered a few samples online, each one stating that they were better than than the rest. I laughed outloud at some claims, because by then, I’d considered myself a “BBQ Sauce Expert” and had this whole “Bring It On” attitude. Then the day finally came….Eureka….i’d found it, at last! Grand Rapids Public Radio

There’s a new face on the Grand Rapids Public Radio scene.  Has anyone heard the new 1680 AM?  It used to be Radio Disney, but now bills itself as WPRR, Public Reality Radio.  They do progressive, educational broadcasting.  They also have a live stream right off of their website at http://www.publicrealityradio.org.  Take a look at the catalogue of shows.  One of my personal favorites is The Thomas Jefferson Hour.  Humanities scholar Clay Jenkinson speaks on a variety of historical and contemporary issues in the character of Thomas Jefferson.  It’s unlike any show I’ve ever heard before and is extremely interesting.  Other new content the have is equally as captivating.  Shows like “Dogma Free America” and “Freethought Radio” and other Pacifica Radio content will more than likely make some waves in conservative West Michigan, but I for one am pleasantly surprised that there is some refreshing new content being offered to the Grand Rapids community.
